Newmag presents Narine Abgaryan's 5th book. For the first time her "Foreigner" book was translated into Armenian and published. Abgaryan’s life has been completely changed after she moved to Moscow in 1993. The incredibly crazy 1990s, the typical Moscow r

A student who graduated from the Yerevan Linguistic University after Brusov in 1993 left her native Berd for Moscow. This is a story written in a unique style about how a young girl is hired at an exchange office in a Moscow hotel, how she tries alcohol for the first time with her colleagues, how the head of the prostitutes offers her a job, reasoning that the intelligent customers will be interested in her. In the 18+ novel, Narine Abgaryan spiced up the story with her self-irony, her light writing style, and her wonderful sense of humor. And because of that, the book immediately attracted the reader, and the work became a bestseller in Russian bookstores.

In her most autobiographical book and currently as well, Narine Abgaryan has adopted the principle of remembering the 1990s only with a smile. She presented her character, difficulties and challenges with an inexhaustible dose of humor in the book. She believes that despair does not lead to a good place. She had decided from the beginning that she would not keep all those feelings within herself and would not be closed by challenges. Instead, she decided to speak up, write, and publish, so that others could read, think and acknowledge that challenges also have funny sides.

Narine Abgaryan wrote about the 1990s in 2011 and only 10 years later Newmag published it in Armenian. The Armenian translation of Narine Abgaryan’s “Foreigner” book will take place at the Newmag Winter Fest, in the Great Hall of the Congress Hotel, on February 19, at 11:20.
