The presentation of the illustrated anthology of Chansonnier's thoughts - "Life through the eyes of Charles" - will take place at Francofest (trailer)
10/10/2024
This anthology includes excerpts from thousands of maestro interviews, unpublished works, and rare photographs.
When discussing Charles Aznavour, the
content coordinator of "Life through the eyes
of Charles," Jennifer Richard emphasizes his deep love and dedication
to his craft.
"While studying the archives over the years, I noticed
thematic directions and ideas that Charles Aznavour returned to repeatedly.
Even as those thoughts evolved, he remained consistent on the key issues that
mattered to him. While working on the book, I revisited the archives to
highlight the main themes and directions Aznavour contemplated throughout his
life."
Richard notes that one theme is particularly prominent in
Charles Aznavour's interviews: work. His reflections, words, and poetry were
ever-present in his mind. Watching his concerts may seem effortless, but behind
that ease was a tremendous amount of effort.
"He consistently emphasized the importance of working for
hours, repeating phrases, and finding the right notes. Charles Aznavour left
behind an immense creative legacy that we can delve into time and again for
many years to come."
His son, Nicolas Aznavour, has thoughtfully compiled the
anthology of Charles Aznavour's philosophy and thoughts. "My father was
a poet of life, a singer of love stories, a translator of emotions. This book
gathers his reflections, ideas, and thoughts on love, passions, memories, and
desires. It is an invitation to explore my father's universe, filled with melody
and poetry."
Key themes include youth, roots, Armenia, family, love, music,
work, values, travel, France, bohemia, business, longevity, and death—in short,
life through the eyes of Charles Aznavour.
The illustrated anthology was translated from French to Armenian
by Samvel Gasparyan. The exclusive partner for this book is Acba
Leasing, and the author of the project is the Aznavour Foundation.
The presentation will take place on October 12 at Francofest,
starting at 7 p.m., at the Congress Hotel. Nicolas Aznavour will also be
present.
