With the memorandum, Newmag and the "Tovmasyan" Charity Foundation are starting a new award ceremony for Artsakh writers. Authors who win the competition will have the opportunity to publish their works. Gnel Nalbandian, the editor-in-chief of the publishing house considers the competition very important because Artsakh creators need to preserve their identity. "This initiative will help Artsakh authors not to disintegrate, not to lose their connection with Artsakh roots, because one day they will return and continue to create in Artsakh."

Newmag and the "Tovmasyan" Foundation will collaboratively establish a committee tasked with determining the mechanics of the competition and defining the criteria for identifying individuals as Artsakh authors. Gnel Nalbandyan anticipates the complexities involved in determining who qualifies as an Artsakh author. "We imagine that the writers from Artsakh, for whom we announced this competition, are not just those who were born in Artsakh, but have been living outside of Artsakh for decades, but those who were forced to leave their homeland due to Azerbaijani aggression during the last displacement."

Inna Hovhannisyan, the director of the "Tovmasyan" Foundation, says that the 20-year-old foundation has focused its full potential on the development and support of science, culture and sports from key areas because this is how society and the state can be moved to a new, higher stage of development. "The slogan of the foundation is 'Together we can', which is also the words of Artak Tovmasyan, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation. Together with the Newmag Publishing House, we will support Artsakh writers with this memorandum, this is another step for the preservation of cultural heritage."

The inaugural collaboration between Newmag and the "Tovmasyan" Foundation is officially underway. On February 10, the two entities will co-host a festival celebrating literature and contemporary arts—Newmag Winter Fest 2024—at Dvin Music Hall. The festival will feature the simultaneous presentation of four books by Armenian authors, covering topics such as leadership, project management, Christian values, and resilience. Furthermore, the event will mark the unveiling of the first Armenian skincare guide magazine.

THE PROGRAM OF THE NEWMAG WINTER FEST

Since the festival is also about modern arts, there will be an art location, where the works of Tigran Tsitoghdzyan, Nur and Ilya Vardanyan will be shown. Nerses Avetisyan will present his solo performance "A Cold Day in The Hell". Narek Amirkhanyan, the author of the popular Rearrange podcast, will hold a panel discussion on the topic "Artificial Intelligence vs. Creators".

The Artsakh State Jazz Orchestra will open the Newmag Winter Fest 2024. "Taluys" choir of Tavush diocese will also be on the stage. The book festival will end with a big concert. The evening of poetry and music by Avet Barseghyan "Love is Wanted" will be held for the first time. His songs will be performed by Aram MP3, Sona Rubenyan, Gor Sujyan and Movses Movsisyan.

During the fest, all Newmag books will be available at a substantial discount. The proceeds generated will be directed towards supporting Artsakh writers who emerged victorious in the Newmag Publishing House and "Tovmasyan" Foundation competition, facilitating the publication of their books.
