The book “Joe Biden” is a quick and complete opportunity for the reader to get familiar with Joe Biden, the 46th President of the USA. Evan Oznos wrote his book based on published articles by The New Yorker magazine in 2011-20. In addition to his own interviews, he has used the work of numerous researchers and journalists who have documented the president's career, personal tragedies and rise. More than 100 interviews, from presidents to senators, from opinions to analysis, to hitherto unknown sources that can be found in the book. In a dynamic style, with the typical handwriting of a journalist, Oznos was able to present the complete image of Joe Biden in 200 pages.

The writer-journalist presents Biden with his shortcomings and determination. More than 30 years after coming close to death, because of the collapse of his political biography, Joe Biden probably should not have had another chance at politics. But that is exactly how his whole life was formed: incredible turns, impressive successes and inhuman tortures. The aspiration to reach the highest positions of American power has a history of more than 50 years in Biden. When he was just growing up, the mother of his girlfriend/later his first wife, Neilia Hunter, asked him about his professional goal. “President,” Biden replied, adding, “of the United States.”

During the 2020 election campaign people did not perceive him seriously, he had a reputation of a veteran of such campaigns. He was called a nice old man, a dictator attached to his own self.

He had a reputation of being such a veteran of such campaigns, that both enemies as well as some of his fans had a little bit of a skepticism toward another political campaign of his. He was not perceived seriously, people were calling him a nice old man. But the man already knew how to ignore such comments. Starting from a very young age Biden already knew how to overcome hardships. While talking about stuttering as a child, Biden says: “I was speaking just like the Morse alphabet. It felt like standing in the corner, all alone. All the other kids were looking at me like I was stupid. They were laughing at me. I still remember the fear, shame, and sadness of those days. Reading in Latin was just like hell. Just three months after studying Latin language the kids started calling me ‘stuttering Joe.’ I was unable to speak.”

In order not to stutter anymore, Biden started using short sentences filled with words that were easier to pronounce. Biden’s oration is not a result of talent; it’s all about hard work, unlike in the case of other successful public speakers like Obama and Bill Clinton. Stephen Solarz, a congressman elected from New York, once went to the Senate hall. It was nearly empty. He later told what he saw there. “There was a man standing there, speaking like in Rome’s Colosseum. It was Joe Biden. That man was working on himself, just like a professional tennis player would do.”

On November 8, in the scope of Armenia TV’s “Good Morning,” Newmag will introduce the “Joe Biden” book.

The book also covers the topic of the President’s biggest tragedy. On December 18, 1972, Biden’s wife and their one-year-old child died in a car crash. Biden’s two sons received various injuries. At the time, Biden even thought of quitting politics in order to take care of his sons. Throughout the years Biden successfully created his personal strategy of overcoming difficulties. He was keeping a pen and a paper near the bed. He evaluated each passing day with a 1-10 scale, following his progress. He learned from his father to believe that destiny ultimately distributes balanced happiness to each individual or family. He liked to say: “The higher the mountains, the deeper the gorges.”

In the book, the writer was able to describe the course of Joe Biden's entire political career. Many considered him a "finished" figure, but Biden persuaded everyone: “Failure at some point in life is inevitable, but surrender is unforgivable.” From activist to politician, from senator to president, to tragic losses from a happy marriage, page by page, chapter by chapter, the writer introduces the leader who unites a divided America. On November 8, during the “Good Morning” program on Armenia TV, Newmag will present the book “Joe Biden.” Evan Oznos’ book was translated by David Sargsyan; the editor was Gnel Nalbandyan.
