What type of new projects will “Zabel'' forum present? Interview in Public TV’s morning show (video in Armenian)

The main objective of the forum is to increase the role of women writers in Armenia and around the world, to present their works and to launch a dialogue between Armenian and foreign women writers. In order to pursue this goal, the Newmag Publishing House in cooperation with ARI Literature Foundation launched an online platform.   

The zabel.am website includes different motivational stories of women writers, their literary pieces, articles, videos and of course, success stories. The representatives of the forum told interesting details about the future programs of the forum during the “Aravot Luso” program of the Public Television. 

The executive director and founder of ARI Literature Foundation Arevik Ashkharoyan explains why it was decided to name the forum after Zabel Yesayan. “Named after the famous Istanbul-Armenian writer, translator, publicist, literary critic,public figure Zapel Yesayan, the forum paid tribute to the memory of the great writer. She published various articles in Armenian and in French and raised various social issues as a public figure.”

As for the question of whether it is right to present only women writers, the head of literary programs at Newmag Publishing House Gohar Manukyan noted:  “There are many events and festivals related to women. It shows that men do not need it, but women, unfortunately, need such kind of events only in Armenia but all over the world.”

The guests believe that the initiative will give a good opportunity to raise interest around the topic and to involve many interested people - readers, literary critics, journalists, etc. In the zabel.am website it will be possible to learn about the upcoming events. The “Authors” section of the website will include all the women writers cooperating with the forum. 

In the framework of the international forum, there will also be discussions, meetings and news about the writers and their literary works. Newmag Publishing House and ARI Literature Foundation will soon present the Zabel International Women Writers' Festival, which will host women writers from all over the world.
