Belated book presentation in a symbolic place: Sincere talks about the “Two Rockstars, two girls and the Mount Ararat” book (photos, video in Armenian)

The events of Ara Tadevosyan’s book start with the tragic earthquake in 1988 and last until the most symbolic year, 2009. It was that year that Ian Gillan and Tony Iommi arrived in Armenia. Before that, the rock stars helped Armenia after the Spitak earthquake. “12 years ago, when our guests arrived in Armenia it was certain to me that this initiative is going to have a long-term influence. One of the music schools in Gyumri was renovated and I realized that I should definitely publish a book and share this material with a wider audience.”

 

The guests of the book presentation were the author of the book Ara Tadevosyan and the head of Newmag publishing house Artak Aleksanyan. The host of the night was lawyer and artist Narek Van Ashughatoyan. The author finished the book in January 2020, during the New Year celebrations. According to Ara Tadevosyan, the English version of the book was translated and sent to Gillan. He wrote down his opinion, and eventually the author summarized it in the book. During the book presentation Ian Gillan greeted the guests with a video message and expressed his gratitude for publishing the book. 

  

After finishing up the book, Ara Tadevosyan contacted the Newmag publishing house in order to publish the book. He claims that the process of publication was both professional and enjoyable. “It was crucial for me to entrust the publication to a team of professionals. You can find a few cases, when the publisher and the author do not have any conflicts. Instead, they are on the same wave.”

The head of Newmag Artak Aleksanyan claims that this partnership was an exceptional one. He claims that the publishing house decided to publish the book for several reasons. First, because it is the documentation of one of the most important events of independent Armenia. “The book was written in the first person. It was written by a person who organized the events himself. In fact, it is a part of our country's history. All the more or less well-known people who have visited Armenia in the last 30 years have come here because they just wanted to help us. In this case, world-famous rock stars visited Armenia, because they were interested in our country.”

 

Gillan’s concert, the aid for Gyumri and all the emotions that the fans had were unforgettable and extremely emotional. Thus, they should have been kept vividly in the memories. That is the main reason that Ara Tadevosyan decided to collect all the events and details and write a book about his journey of achieving his teenage dream.
