newmag-y-n

A book that is a puzzle collected from different genres of literature. Newmag published the last novel by Vahan Ishkhanyan, one of the most famous and liberal journalists of the independence period. The author titled his book

According to Marine Petorsyan, Vahan was not on the side of just the weak, but the oppressed and the victims of injustice. She revealed incessant debates and discussions that took place between them. "In 2008, when I supported Levon Ter-Petrosyan, and Vahan was always against him, politics stopped our discussions. But he continued to read my poems and one day he said: "Marine, politics always divides, but poetry unites".

The book was a surprise for the poet, after reading it, she felt Vahan's debate with his father, Rafael Ishkhanyan, a very famous linguist and literary critic in Armenia, who was associated with the struggle against Russian-speaking. "Reading the book, I noticed how Vahan's whole life was a debate with his father. But let me tell you the essence: Vahan's whole family was against the Soviet Union, they waited impatiently for it to collapse. In this book, Vahan described what happened after the collapse of the Soviet Union. We expected that there would be happiness and freedom, but it did not happen, because when social needs come, there is no freedom. That's what Vahan wrote in the novel, that’s why he turned to the left, and the whole novel was about leftism".

According to Violet Grigoryan, aside from cohabiting, there were many close friends and associates with Vahan. "Naturally, this was accompanied by debates; we used to engage in a lot of debates together. It was a generation, the continuity of which I find missing in the present day. Nowadays, it appears to be a generation of Facebook likes, but meaningful discussions are far more beneficial. He was never inclined to discuss his illness, yet as you peruse the book, it seems like a synopsis of his life".

According to the editor of the book "The Bitter Sea", Vahan sometimes debated his own opinion. "He did not have the concept of person, the Armenian form of dignity like "I must always be right". He could easily deny, criticize himself, and admit that change. Because of that, he was also an interesting interlocutor, because if a person has a self-critical view and sees his mistake, then you can calmly talk to him". This book is a complete puzzle, collected from different genres of literature - memories, articles, works of art - put this puzzle together, and you will see the past stages of the history of Armenia.
