TIME magazine named Neil Ferguson one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2004. In 2020, Newmag presented the book The Great Depression by Scottish historian, professor, senior expert at Stanford University, USA. In this book, he explains that today, Western institutions, the complex systems in which society can thrive or collapse, are falling apart. His next book, The Square and the Tower, was donated by the Harvard and New York University lecturer to the Network Age: that's how he called the 21st century: the age of networks.

According to him, historians have never restored the image of the past networks. Its purpose is to show that such networks can be found in almost every age of human history, that they are far more important than what the authors of most historical books inspire in the reader. The lack of attention is explained by the fact that historians have considered the source of the documents left by the states. From economics to sociology, from neuroscience to organized behavior. The last straw came when the scientist moved to California and found himself next to IT giants due to work.  “When I moved to Stanford University, I started living in Silicon Valley. In the book, the author explains how the British defeated the Germans in a network war, how the Armenians became the victims of the network confrontation of the European powers, losing most of the population and the homeland. “I had to figure out almost everything to understand networks. Become a little physicist, mathematician, sociologist, economist, even anthropologist and engineer. So this book is research in a variety of fields.”
