The aim of the call of the Creative Europe to support the translation projects in EU-Eastern Partnership countries is, to promote the circulation of European literature and to introduce the literature of less translated languages to the European audience.

More than 200 publishers from EU, Eastern Europe and the CIS have been the participants of this programme, which has been implemented already for almost 10 years. And Armenia has become the winner of this call for the first time in 2021. Newmag is the first Armenian publishing house the project of which was considered one of the winners in 2021 and got funding.

The project of the Newmag is titled " Reflections on Crisis in Contemporary European Literature". The aim of the project is to translate six books by European writers into Armenian and one book by an Armenian writer into French and German. The goal of the project is to bring different literary voices to the Armenian book market.

Lack of diversity of translated literature leads to a lack of cultural exchange. Selected books from Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain and Sweden present different types of crises: age, social, economic, political or war. The aim of the project is to translate literary works that reflect the real picture of the most vulnerable in the most difficult circumstances as well as in situations of extreme need - refugees, the elderly, ethnic minorities, those involved into the territorial and political conflicts.

This project will introduce to the Armenian readers the books that will help them overcome the post-coronavirus and post-war crisis. Crisis stories show that people are not alone in their difficulties, moreover, very often these problems are similar and the ways of facing and overcoming them have very much in common no matter where people live. The topic of crisis in six European books is presented from different perspectives, in different cultural environments. They prove that a crisis, whatever its causes are, can always be overcome by personal will, courage, jointly and in unity.

The translation of two out of six European novels had been finalized. The official launch of the program where the first two novels will be presented is scheduled for May 16, at 13:00 in Ani Grand Hotel.
