Newmag presents an international bestseller: Elena Ferrante's "My Brilliant Friend" novel. This mysterious Italian writer authored around a dozen books. This novel is the first part of her "Neapolitan Novels" series. Her books have been translated into 40

Elena Ferrante is a pseudonymous Italian novelist. She is one of the most mysterious writers of the era. Her identity is still unknown, even though she is widely famous in the world. Her four-book series of Neapolitan Novels are her most widely known works. The first novel of the series is the "My brilliant friend" book. It is an intense story about two friends, Elena and Lila, living in the poor district of Naples.

The story of two friends, which began in the 1950s in a poor but bustling suburb of Naples, develops for almost 60 years. In this long journey, the young girls become women, mothers, and leaders but maintain their complex friendship. According to The Economist, Elena Ferrante is the best contemporary prose writer. According to former US First Lady Hillary Clinton, the novel hypnotizes.

The first novel of the 4-part series tells the story of two friends since they first met as 10-year-old schoolgirls until the years of their adolescence. Through the lives of these two women, Ferrante tells the story of a neighborhood, a city and a country as it is transformed in ways that, in turn, also transform the relationship between her two protagonists.

At the basis of these Neapolitan novels is the friendship between women, which in fact, is full of controversies. We see ourselves in these women. Ferrante's inimitable style lends itself perfectly to a meticulous portrait of these two women that is also the story of a nation and a touching meditation on the nature of friendship. "My brilliant friend" is also about family values, where ideas of love, loyalty and European issues are raised.
