Three years ago Artak Aleksanyan, the executive director of Newmag Publishing announced that by the 100th anniversary of Aznavour all of his books will be translated and published in Armenian. Firstly, Newmag published Aznavour’s “Retiens la vie” book, which was immediately consumed in bookstores. Then Newmag presented three other books - “À voix basse”, “D’une porte l’autre” and “Tant que battra mon coeur” books. Today, on the eve of the composer's birthday, we present the “My father, that giant” book.
Charles Aznavour offers us 16 little gems of humor and imagination, which are full of secrets, surprises, dramas and the pleasures of existence. 16 short stories were written over the years by the great chansonnier and now presented in one collection. The book translator is Samvel Gasparyan: The main sponsor of the publication is Amundi-ACBA Asset Management.
This work stands out in Aznavour's mild style, sharp humor and friendly language. The comparisons are accurate, the descriptions are extremely realistic and dramatic.
Some of the novels included in this book are: “The art of being a grandfather”, “My father, that giant”, “Photo Album”, “An unusual New Year's dinner” and “A place in paradise”. Composer and writer Aznavour wrote these stories in different years. Eventually, only in 2007 he published all of them in one book. He delicately and meticulously presents the psychology of a child and the philosophy of an elderly person. He describes various situations in our lives with a simple, yet powerful description.
In these novels one can see the life and various details of his family, which had roots from Erzurum, but lived in France. Each of Aznavour's works is a life lesson filled with valuable advice and fundamental ideas.
On the eve of the birthday of one of the most famous French singers of more than 1300 songs, Newmag has one more surprise. In the scope of the “Good Morning” program on Armenia TV, the premiere of the Armenian translation of Aznavour’s song will be held, accompanied by a new music video. You can listen to the Armenian version of the song on May 21, during the “Good Morning” program of Armenia TV.
