Newmag has translated and published Nobel Prize winning author Milton Friedman's book "Capitalism and Freedom". The presentation of the book took place on December 10 with the participation of prominent economists and representatives of the banking field.

The idea of translating the book "Capitalism-Freedom" into Armenian came from Artak Ananyan, Chairman of the Board of Ardshinbank, and David Sargsyan, Member of the Board and Chief Financial Officer. Artak Ananyan talked about the idea and the initiative during  the presentation.

The idea was realized by Newmag publishing house, bringing together professionals of the field together. The scientific editor of the book is Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of NAS RA Yuri Suvaryan, the translator is Liana Zakaryan, the editor is Tatevik Nalbandyan.

This presentation was particularly important for the Newmag publishing house: for the first time Newmag presents to the reader a book on economics.

The event was attended by Minister of High-Tech Industry Vahagn Khachatryan, former Deputy Prime Minister Vache Gabrielyan, former Minister of Finance Edward Sando, former Minister of Economy Armen Yeghiazaryan, former Deputy Minister of Finance Pavel Safaryan, economists Vardan Bostanjyan, Atom Margaryan, Tatul Manaseryan.

The book is one of the most influential scientific works of the second half of the 20th century. Economists who were present at the book presentation claim that the ideas of the book have been published in textbooks and became a state policy. They also emphasize that being published 60 years ago the book is still relevant in the field of economics, and many use it to avoid crises.

The book, which won the Nobel Prize in Economics, has been translated into about two dozen languages. Friedman is considered one of the successors of Adam Smith's ideology, one of the developers of the theory of liberalism.

The presentation took place in a warm and pleasant atmosphere, with interactive discussions. In his speech the head of Newmag publishing house Artak Aleksanyan emphasized. “If every bank in Armenia translates one major economic book once a year, our minds will be trained and will perceive the international economic developments accordingly. In a few years we will be able to create a professional library that will be mandatory for everyone in the field. Due to these translations, our economic vocabulary will be refined, scientific formulas will be studied in Armenian in universities. And maybe in that environment high-quality economic pieces will be written in Armenian, which will be later translated by foreigners.”
