Newmag Publishing House published the memoir of one of the most renowned Armenian-American intellectuals - Vartan Gregorian. The extraordinary and unique memories of the legendary president of Carnegie Corporation start off in a poor district of a provinc

Vartan Gregorian attended Beirut Seminary, Stanford University, New York Public Library, Brown University, and Carnegie Corporation. Gregorian’s path from the Armenian district of Tabriz to the United States has been monumental. “The Road to Home” book has been translated from English to Armenian. The translator of the book is Astghik Sargsyan.  “This book is about how the difficult past becomes the foundation of a bright future. If everything were fine at home, he would not leave it, and there would be no Vartan Gregorian.”

Vartan Gregorian became part of the Armenian reality through the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative. Gregorian is one of the three co-founders of Aurora. This is how Armenians got to know their most famous and influential compatriot. This is the second cooperation between Newmag Publishing House and Aurora. The executive director of Aurora gives a precise and concise assessment of Gregorian’s legacy. “Vartan Gregorian is an integral part of the ideology, which Aurora encompasses. He is one of the most influential people I know. He is a wise man, and this book is the reflection of his extraordinary life.”

This book is a special surprise from Aurora to Vartan Gregorian. The designer of the book, Edik Poghosyan, was the neighbor of Gregorian’s family in Tehran. Thirteen years ago, when he heard about his world-known neighbor, Gregorian was already the director of the New York Library. “In this attempt, Aurora also emphasizes the potential of the Diaspora. This book will especially reveal the potential of the Iranian-Armenian community. Those are people who can still bring their potential to Armenia.”

From the translation details of the book to the cover design and the final edition, Vartan Gregorian was constantly in touch with Newmag. According to the head of the Publishing House Artak Aleksanyan, he was interested in every detail.  “In the book you will read about people, who we thought that passed away a long time ago - Levon Shant, Simon Vratsyan. In his memoir, Vartan Gregorian unpacks how he made connections. He was an immigrant who has become one of the most influential intellectuals of New York City. He has raised such an amount of money for the Carnegie Corporation that there is no need for the corporation to raise more money.”

The person who suggested translating the book into Armenian was Martin Galstyan, who is currently the head of the Central Bank of Armenia. The book of the famous Armenian intellectual depicts the path of going through suffering and deprivations and eventually achieving his greatest dreams.
