[Movie Premiere] "Stand up". Newmag presents a documentary about Sargis Stepanyan (trailer in Armenian)

When Sargis Stepanyan lost both his legs and his right arm in 2014 due to a serious injury, doctors were hopeless about his recovery in a short-term period. However, he was able to walk 3 months later, and 3 years later he became the world champion in arm wrestling.

Today, the arm-wrestling champion has already been able to prove by his example that there is no hopeless situation if you have the willpower and the thirst for life. "Fate is usually considered an unachievable challenge. I do not agree. I have rewritten my destiny. If you do not have legs, but you want to walk, know that you will walk. You lost your leg, you lost your hand, you will live. But if you lose your spirit, your life will lose its meaning.”

If the book "Arm-Man" tells the story of the hardships that befell Sargis before and after the tragedy, then the film presents the huge work that Sargis is doing now, helping the other wounded soldiers. "Our people with disabilities are really heroic people, everyone's story is a separate heroic battle, but my message to them is that being a legend is not enough, you have to remain a legend. Therefore, it is the biggest mistake to sit back after the heroic actions, you have to make an effort for more significant days.”

The producer of "Stand Up" is the head of Newmag publishing house Artak Aleksanyan, the screenwriter is Davit Davtyan, the director is Hayk Kbeyan. According to the co-author of the book, Davit Davtyan, in the film, as in the book, the image of the hero of our days, a fighter with an iron will, is reflected. "Both the book and the film will greatly help all our soldiers, their relatives, first to get rid of psychological, then physical problems, to live by Sargis's example. He has made his community a big family, where everyone trains, participates and wins championships."

According to director Hayk Kbeyan, during the shooting of the film, he revealed his hero Sargis Stepanyan. "Sargis is a collective image of a hero. The film is all about him, from his past to the present day. He is able to raise the heroic boys with disabilities, to continue life again, to gain willpower.” 

The premiere of the film "Stand Up" will take place on the day of the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Armenian Armed Forces, on January 28, at 13:00 in "Moscow" cinema. Entry is by invitation. On the same day, at 11:30 pm, the TV premiere of the film will take place on Armenia TV.
