On the eve of Charles Aznavour's birthday, Newmag presented the 5th book of the great chansonnier․ Since May 22nd the Armenian reader can acquire the collection of Aznavour’s short stories called "My father, that giant". On the same day Newmag offered ano

The audience was Aznavour’s first love and they have never betrayed each other. Very few of the composer's more than a thousand songs have been translated into Armenian. With its touching French elegance and Armenian sound Reste - "Stay" is presented to the Armenian audience.

Newmag decided to present lesser known songs of Aznavour in Armenian. According to the executive director of the publishing house Artak Aleksanyan, everyone in our country loves Aznavour.“People like the melody of his songs, but many of them, except for those who speak French, don’t understand the main message behind the song. However, lyrics are a key component in Aznavour’s songs, so we decided to translate them and present them to the wider audience.”

Aznavour was the singer of the century. Giving his songs an Armenian sound was both difficult and responsible. Newmag recorded the song in cooperation with Armenia TV. According to the project coordinator Armida Terteryan, the responsibility was quite big, because they have decided to not diverge from the original version of the song. “Erik performed the song, Martin Mirzoyan was the music producer. It was an immense responsibility to work on this project.”

To turn all those ideas into reality, a key component of success was teamwork. The song was translated by Samvel Gasparyan, the cameraman of the music video is Vazgen Muradyan. The director of the music video is Sergey Davtyan. The director of this music video mentions that the style of the video should have been in harmony with the song and the author. “The minimalist style of the music video is an integral part of Aznavour’s style. His songs and music videos are simple, yet influential and powerful. We have decided with Artak Aleksanyan that the lyrics of the song should appear during the music video.”

Newmag promises that by the 100th anniversary of the great artist, Aznavour’s songs will be heard in Armenian again. The sponsor of Newmag’s Aznavour series is Amundi ACBA Asset Management.
