This touching song with French elegance and Armenian sound was performed by Erik Karapetyan. According to him, Aznavour didn’t live in Armenia, but he did everything for his motherland. “He is the type of Armenian; the person I want to be like. He has done so much for Armenia. Most importantly, he wanted peace. If each of us tries to be like Aznavour in one way or another, we will live in peace.”
Newmag’s musical project started with the song "Reste" and will continue with other famous and not so famous songs by Aznavour. Until his 100th anniversary, Newmag promised to translate and publish not only Aznavour's entire literary heritage in Armenian, but also his songs with new instrumentation and music videos.
According to the CEO of Newmag publishing house Artak Aleksanyan, Aznavour has repeatedly said that he likes when others perform his songs, but doesn’t like when singers try to duplicate him. “The philosophy behind the new instrumentation of the song was to be inspired by Aznavour, to convey the spirit, but not duplicate him. I think that Martin's musical taste, Erik's musical abilities and their collaboration resulted in a high-quality work.”
The main partner of Aznavour’s literary series and music project is Amundi ACBA company. According to Hrayr Aslanyan, Deputy Executive Director of the company, the partnership started three years ago and will continue for another three years. “We started to support the Armenian translation of Charles Aznavour's books. Today we present the 5th book to the Armenian readers. We strongly believe that it is our duty to continue this initiative and have all Aznavour’s books translated by his 100th anniversary.”
New book, new song, new video and one more surprise. Live connection from Paris. It is the opening ceremony of the bust of Charles Aznavour. The bust will be placed at the Odeon crossroad, where the road to Aznavour's glory began. The bust was created in 1964 in Armenia. The author gifted the work to Aznavour when he was in the homeland.
