Alexandre Dumas
Alexandre Dumas (1802-1870) is one of the most famous authors of French literature, a great master of the adventure novel of the 19th century. The writer's father was a general in Napoleon's army, whose biography and strong personality had a great influence on Dumas's works. In his youth, Dumas worked as a secretary, then began to write for the theater. His first successes were associated with dramaturgy, but his historical-adventure novels brought him real world recognition, among which the most famous are "The Three Musketeers" and "The Count of Monte Cristo." His novels were serialized in newspapers, and readers eagerly awaited the publication of each new chapter. Dumas' works have been repeatedly adapted for film, staged and translated into dozens of languages, maintaining their worldwide recognition and literary value to this day.
