EMPOWERING COMMUNITY LIBRARIES

More than book donation The Community Libraries Empowerment Program revitalizes regional libraries across Armenia by replenishing their collections with carefully selected, high-quality books. We invite benefactors—individuals, companies, and foundations—to sponsor a package of 500 brand-new Newmag titles for a designated community library. Donors may select a library themselves or rely on our recommendations based on local needs. Newmag coordinates selection, delivery, and documentation to ensure transparent impact for both libraries and sponsors.

Project rationale

An estimated 45% of pupils in Armenia do not meet basic proficiency benchmarks.

20% of exam applicants fell below the minimum proficiency benchmark in Armenian language.

46% of 9th-grade students did not meet the minimum passing threshold on the final Armenian Language Exam.

20% of students struggled to meet—or failed to meet—functional literacy standards.

One in five students in Armenia is below functional literacy proficiency.

Project Goal

This flagship CSR initiative integrates three pillars: improving functional literacy, expanding educational opportunities, and strengthening community self-organization.

Supply 500 new Armenian-language copies to a designated community library in the Republic of Armenia.

To renew and expand the book collections of over 350 Armenian community libraries, which have gone over 30 years without systematic updates.

Project IMPLEMENTATION

The community library hosts a formal book-donation ceremony attended by benefactors or their designated representatives.

Each of the 500 books includes a nameplate recognizing the benefactor. The full consignment is transported to the recipient library in need in branded packaging.

The event will bring together community intellectuals, readers, and local officials, and will receive coverage across social platforms as well as by media outlets.
