Newmag Publishing, with the support of Amundi-Acba Asset Management, donated 500 books to the “Vahe Stepanyan Centralized Library System” of the Sevan community in Gegharkunik region.

The donation event took place at the Sevan House of Culture. Frunz Harutyunyan, Director of the Centralized Library System, emphasized the importance of the initiative for refreshing the collections of regional libraries and replacing outdated books with modern titles.

“Our library has always been a place of knowledge and learning, and today that mission gains new strength. Each new book is an opportunity for readers to discover the world. On behalf of our staff and readers, I thank Newmag Publishing House and Amundi-Acba Asset Management for reminding us that books continue to be a unifying bridge, expanding minds and strengthening values,” said Harutyunyan.

The Sevan community library marks the 14th stop in Newmag’s program of donating 500 books to regional libraries in partnership with its sponsors. Presenting the program, Newmag’s Editor-in-Chief Gnel Nalbandyan noted that the project is as much about people as it is about books.

“It’s inspiring to see with what enthusiasm libraries welcome new books. I know your work is not highly paid, yet you dedicate yourselves with love and responsibility to one of the most important missions: guiding children, teenagers, and young people into the great world of books,” Nalbandyan said.

He also introduced the publishing house’s website, newmag.am, as a resource where librarians and readers can explore the full catalog and learn more about authors.

This initiative is not limited to Sevan. Just days earlier, the Sisian community library also received 500 new books thanks to Amundi-Acba Asset Management’s sponsorship.

Zarine Yeghiazaryan, Head of Marketing and Communications at Amundi-Acba Asset Management, highlighted the company’s long-term partnership with Newmag and its commitment to social responsibility:

“Our company has been implementing a social responsibility policy for six years, and during that time, we have proudly collaborated with Newmag. Together, we have brought diverse literature to Armenian readers. In the context of sustainable development, I believe that in the era of soft skills, reading remains an essential and irreplaceable value.”

Ani Hakobyan, Head of Literary Programs at Newmag, presented the selection of books included in the donation:

“We chose these titles with great care. Our editors, translators, and proofreaders work diligently to ensure high-quality literature for readers. Among the 500 books are novels, historical works, political and scientific titles, children’s literature, as well as economic and motivational books. We believe especially our non-fiction will inspire many young people in choosing their future professions.”

Armine Ghukasyan, Secretary of the Sevan Municipality Staff and a journalist by profession, summed up the day with the phrase: “14th Stop: Sevan.”

“For years, our library has received donations, but they often consisted of outdated or unused books. This time, receiving 500 brand-new publications from Newmag is truly a big event for us. In today’s changing and often declining world, Newmag is an oasis that takes us back to the world of books.”

In just one year, Newmag Publishing House, together with its partners, has donated 6,750 books to 14 community libraries across Armenia — a program that continues to expand access to modern, high-quality literature for readers throughout the country.
