Modern titles and bestselling literature are now available to readers in several Ashtarak region communities. As part of an ongoing initiative by Newmag Publishing House and the “Renaissance” Foundation, the libraries of Nor Yerznka, Oshakan, Karbi, and Parpi have received a donation of 500 books.

The libraries’ current capacities are as follows: Nor Yerznka holds 7,387 books and serves around 400 readers; Parpi has 8,500 books and 40 readers; Karbi’s library holds 8,005 books and serves 100 readers; and Oshakan’s library has 16,360 books and about 100 readers.

Hakob Hakobyan, Director of the “Renaissance” Foundation, emphasized the importance of the initiative, sharing a personal connection to the project:

“I was born and raised in Nor Yerznka, so helping bring books to these communities has a special meaning for me. If even one child, teenager, or young person starts reading because of this initiative, it will be a success. I’m especially glad to hear that the number of new readers is growing thanks to our joint effort with Newmag.”

This is the second round of book donations supported by the “Renaissance” Foundation. Ani Hakobyan, Head of Literary Programs at Newmag, noted that the collaboration will continue with donations to three more libraries in the near future.

“I’m confident that every one of the 500 books we’ve donated will find a reader. Our goal is to help libraries once again become warm, family-oriented spaces centered around books, just like they used to be. These books were carefully curated and produced with attention to both content and design, and we hope communities will feel that care.”

Marianna Mkrtchyan, Director of the Ashtarak Palace of Culture, highlighted the importance of making modern and high-quality literature available beyond Yerevan, stressing the need to support libraries in smaller communities.

The donation ceremony included performances by students of the A. Ayvazyan Music School and dancers from Parpi. At the close of the event, Newmag and the “Renaissance” Foundation were presented with certificates of appreciation from the Ashtarak Municipality and the Palace of Culture.
