Five community libraries across Armenia’s regions are being enriched with a total of 2,500 new and contemporary books. Thanks to the support of the “Renaissance Foundation”, represented by its founder Artur Janibekyan, each selected library is receiving 500 titles of modern literature.

One of the recipients is the Masis Central Library, which has now been replenished with 500 new books through the partnership between Newmag Publishing House and the Renaissance Foundation.

According to Norayr Hakobyan, First Deputy Head of the Masis Municipality, the local government regularly updates the library’s collection throughout the year. However, a donation of this scale is unprecedented.

“This initiative is not only joyful but also obliging. Such a large selection of modern literature has never been available in our library. It will undoubtedly bring in more readers, and we now feel responsible to organize literary discussions to introduce the new books to the community.”

Manush Ghazaryan, Acting Director of the Masis Central Library, expressed her gratitude, noting that the books published by Newmag will inject new energy into the library.

“Your donation not only enriches our collection but also supports education and promotes a culture of reading in our community.”

Artak Aleksanyan, Head of Newmag Publishing House, visited Masis for the book handover and shared more about the project’s vision.

“We created this model to support community libraries through the help of benefactors. We provide modern, high-quality literature - books that interest students, young readers, and adults alike.”

He also announced that Newmag is open to organizing author visits and literary evenings in Masis, further engaging the local community with contemporary Armenian literature.

Marina Gevorgyan, one of the library’s devoted readers, welcomed the initiative:

“This was the best possible surprise for Masis library users. Our beloved library has been enriched with valuable, in-demand, high-quality literature. We are grateful for this wonderful initiative.”

To mark the occasion, talented students from Masis schools performed musical and theatrical pieces, creating a festive atmosphere that celebrated reading, creativity, and community.
