Book Donation: 500 New Books Donated to Gyumri Central Library with Support from VTB-Armenia Bank
08/13/2025
On the occasion of Youth Day, VTB-Armenia Bank, in partnership with Newmag Publishing House, donated 500 books to the Gyumri “Central Library” Non-Profit Organization.
The Central Library has four branches serving over 4,000 readers. Last year, the library also acquired books from Newmag Publishing House, which proved highly popular among its readers.

Lilit Tovmasyan, Head of the Department of Culture and Youth Affairs of the Gyumri Municipality, noted that the largest previous donation to the community library never exceeded 100 books and mostly consisted of older publications.
“These 500 books are invaluable to us. Books from Newmag Publishing House are in high demand. We purchased several last year, but it is never enough. Our readers are constantly asking for new titles. In a few days, they will be able to read these books, and we will organize discussions and meetings with readers and authors.”

Gnel Nalbandyan, Editor-in-Chief of Newmag Publishing House, presented the books donated with support from VTB-Armenia Bank.
“Together with our partners, we are bringing contemporary literature to readers across Armenia. This literature is especially important for young people. Gyumri is a city of culture and the arts, and in these 500 books, every reader will find something that resonates with them. We selected a diverse collection, including historical, sociological, motivational, and fiction titles.”

Nare Tadevosyan, Head of Marketing and Public Relations at VTB Bank-Armenia, emphasized the regional significance of the initiative:
“Supporting the development of regional cities like Gyumri is very important to us. Gyumri is a cultural hub, which is why we chose the Central Library. We were delighted to learn that the library has active subscribers, for whom these 500 books will be a meaningful gift.”

Special letters of appreciation were presented to Newmag Publishing House and VTB-Armenia Bank on behalf of the Mayor of Gyumri. Active library readers were also recognized with letters of appreciation.

The donation event took place in the exhibition hall of the Kumayri Historical and Cultural Reserve-Museum and featured performances by the “Komitas” youth orchestra from the Gyumri branch of the Komitas Conservatory. Participants were also given a guided tour of the museum’s exhibition hall.
