Newmag Publishing House continues its nationwide initiative to enrich community libraries with new, high-quality literature. With the support of the “Renaissance” Foundation, the latest book donation delivered 500 books to the Vayk Community Library, the first of several libraries set to benefit from this collaboration.

Launched about a year ago, the Book Donation initiative is a first-of-its-kind literary program aimed at supporting local communities and revitalizing library collections. Newmag partners with private companies and foundations to make these donations possible, integrating the initiative into broader corporate social responsibility efforts.

According to Newmag’s head, Artak Aleksanyan, the goal is to provide modern, relevant books to readers across Armenia:

“Many communities have tried to replenish their libraries with limited resources. We created this program to encourage private sector support for updating public library collections. I hope these books will become a valuable resource for readers.”

The collaboration with the “Renaissance” Foundation began with the Vayk Community Library, a symbolic choice, says Hakob Hakobyan, director of the foundation:

“Our founder, Artur Janibekyan, lived in Vayk for several years and even attended this very cultural center. It was his wish to begin the book donation series here. Reading fosters imagination and the ability to dream and achieve. I truly believe that books can change lives, as they did mine when I first read “The Mysterious Island”. We’re grateful to Newmag for initiating such an important project.”

Vayk Library currently serves over 750 registered users across its adult and children’s sections. Gnel Nalbandyan, Newmag’s editor-in-chief, emphasized the broader social value of libraries:

“Libraries are unique spaces where families, leaders, and generations come together. That’s why we focus not only on meaningful content but also on high-quality design and printing, so that books are both accessible and engaging.”

The donation ceremony was held at Vayk’s Cultural House and included performances by students. At the close of the event, Newmag and the “Renaissance” Foundation were honored with certificates of appreciation from the community.
