Gaël Faye
Gaël Faye (born 1982) is a French-Rwandan writer, musician, and slam poet. He is one of the most influential new voices in contemporary Francophone literature. From an early age, music and literature have played a major role in his life. After the genocide of the Tutsi in Rwanda, he moved to France with his family. He studied economics and finance, but chose art as a way of self-expression and overcoming the trauma of the past. Gaël is also a famous rapper. He combines hip-hop, jazz, and African melodic traditions. The main themes of his music and literature are memory, exile, national identity, and justice. Since 2015, he has returned to Rwanda with his wife and children. Her first novel, "The Little Country," won the Goncourt Lycée Prize and has been translated into 40 languages. "Jacaranda" is Fay's second book. It received the prestigious Renaudeau Prize. It won the Goncourt international selection in 12 countries and 3 regions. The Armenian jury of the Goncourt also selected this novel.
