Olivier Bourdeaut (b. 1980) is a contemporary French writer. Before turning to literature, he worked in the real estate sector. After losing his job, he decided to devote himself entirely to writing. He spent two years working on his first novel—a dark, voluminous work that was rejected by publishers. While living with his parents in Spain, Bourdeaut wrote a completely different kind of story in just seven weeks: a lighthearted, whimsical, and poetic tale. The novel *Waiting for Bojangles* (En attendant Bojangles) was published in 2016 and became a nationwide bestseller in France. A French-Belgian film of the same name was subsequently adapted from the book.
