Sally Rooney
Sally Rooney (born 1991) is an Irish writer and screenwriter based in Dublin. She began her career by publishing in literary magazines. Her first novel, Conversations with Friends, was published in 2017. A year later, Normal People was published. The novel is based on the story of the two main characters in Rooney's story "The Hospital". In July 2018, Normal People was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, and was named Irish Novel of the Year that year. In 2019, it won the Costa Novel Award in the Novel category. It was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas and Women's Literary Awards. The novel was adapted into a television series Normal People in 2020.
