They say that a blow from the enemy is expected, but a blow from the back, from one's own blood, opens an incurable wound on the body of a nation and is engraved in the memory of generations.

In legal terms, treason is a conscious act directed against the sovereignty, territorial integrity or security of one's own state. State treason usually includes espionage in favor of a foreign state, taking the side of the enemy during war or military operations, helping foreign states aimed at harming the country's sovereignty, territorial integrity or external security.

Unlike state treason, in the sphere of public perception and in the memory of generations, the concept of national treason is much broader and more emotional. National treason is perceived as a betrayal of common values, history and future. By the way, history shows that betrayal is often born of internal division. When there is no unified understanding of the “red lines” within society, the likelihood of betrayal increases.

History is usually written by the winners, but it is also created by those who stab their own people and society in the back at a crucial moment. In the millennia of Armenian history, a black thread runs alongside heroic feats - the chain of betrayal and betrayal. After all, we often hear that the reason for our defeats was not the power of the enemy, but our internal divisions.

In this issue, we recall those pages and personalities of Armenian history that we sometimes want to forget, but which we are obliged to remember.
