The "Yerevan Bestseller" project hosted its annual "Bestseller of the Year" award ceremony, where Newmag proudly received two awards.
The "Armenpress" news agency compiled the annual results of the "Yerevan Bestseller" special project and announced the 2023 awards during the "Bestseller of the Year" awards ceremony. Newmag was honored with two awards, one of which was a special one.
Newmag hosted its 7th book festival earlier this year. On February 10, the publishing house's grandest book celebration took place, drawing over 15,000 participants. The tradition caught the eye of the "Yerevan Bestseller" project of Armenpress. At the award ceremony, Narine Nazaryan, head of the news agency, bestowed upon Newmag a special recognition for its profound impact in establishing the tradition of book festivals and fostering a deep appreciation for literature.
"Armenpress" news agency held the 11th "Yerevan Bestseller" award ceremony at the Komitas Museum-Institute and summarized the annual results of the special project.
Astghik Atabekyan, a Newmag translator, received the prestigious award: "Translator of Bestsellers of the Year". Currently residing in the USA, Atabekyan's translations, notably "The Silent Patient" and "One of Us is Lying", were prominently highlighted by the "Yerevan Bestseller" project. Furthermore, Atabekyan has skillfully translated numerous other thrillers for the publishing house, all of which have achieved bestseller status. Presently, she is immersed in translating one of this year's most significant thrillers.
During the "Bestseller of the Year" award ceremony, accolades were bestowed in several categories, including "Armenian Author of the Year", "Bestseller of the Year", and "Publisher of the Most Popular Translations of the Year".
The goal of this project is to provide a comprehensive monitoring tool for writers, publishing houses, and bookstores, inform readers about current literary trends, and most sought-after books, strengthen the passion towards reading, and make it contagious.
The "Grkaptuyt" competition, organized by the agency in collaboration with partner publishing houses, reached its culmination at the event. Newmag had the honor of presenting books to two deserving winners.
