In his book, Lee Strobel asks fundamental questions, earnestly attempting to distinguish between miracles and truth. With boldness, courage, and journalistic persistence, Strobel arrives at an unexpected conclusion.

Lee Strobel explains the essence of his long-term investigation in simple terms. "The Case for Christ" is built on four indisputable and irrefutable facts:

"First, the death of Christ is a historical fact. He could not have survived on the cross, and this has been proven. Second, there is early evidence. Why is this important? Critics of the resurrection argue that legends about it were created 100-150 years after Christ’s death. However, the resurrection cannot be dismissed as a legend because legends require time to develop—at least two generations—whereas in this case, the accounts date back to just a few months."

The third fact is that the tomb was empty, which even opponents of the resurrection acknowledge. They only dispute what happened to the body.

"And fourth, there are eyewitnesses. After his death, Jesus appeared to at least 515 people—skeptics, doubters, men and women, day and night. His disciples spoke with him, touched him, and interacted with him. The historical evidence for this is more robust than usual and, importantly, comes from sources outside the New Testament."

Strobel emphasizes that early Christians were willing to die for their faith—not for extremist beliefs, but for the reality they personally witnessed, which is fundamental to understanding their commitment.

“There are seven sources, six of which are independent of the Bible, that confirm the persecution of Christ’s disciples. Let’s suppose they were religious extremists, like suicide bombers or fanatical terrorists, willing to die for something they blindly believed in. But that’s not the case. There’s a key difference: Christ’s disciples saw him after his death, touched him, and ate with him.”

The book became a worldwide bestseller, with 14 million copies sold. Through this investigation, Strobel opened a series of truth-seeking inquiries. The path he began decades ago, with this first book, led him to continue exploring and shedding light on other Christian issues.
