FRANCOFEST |: Newmag presents “Blue Beard” by Amélie Nothomb, Baroness and Europe's goth princess (Trailer)
Newmag finally presents in Armenian the famous work of Amélie Nothomb based on the famous fairy tale of Charles Perrault. “Blue Beard” is a modern interpretation of the famous tale. A story about a sociophobic and womanizing Spanish nobleman. Existential
Amélie was born in Belgium. Her father, Baron Patrick Nothomb, was a diplomat, so the future novelist has lived in China, Japan, the United States, Laos, Burma, and Bangladesh since childhood. King Philip granted her a baronetcy in 2015.
Amélie Nothomb lives in Paris and writes in French. She does not use a computer but writes her novels with a pen, eight hours a day. According to her, she writes 3.7 novels in a year but publishes a quarter of them. That's why she has submitted only 16 novels to the readers’ judgment.
Divine Amélie, that's the nickname of Nothomb. Her 20th novel, “Blue Beard”, is based on a famous fairy tale. Nothomb is a master of paradox. She turned the medieval tale into a modern story about a reclusive, strange aristocrat and a young, courageous woman.
The novel is a mystery full of psychological games, a flawless story built with high-class dialogues, filled with luxurious, expensive, and golden champagne. It is difficult to determine the genre of the book: detective, thriller, or romance.
The reader will surely feel fear and excitement, but more than that, supreme pleasure, which is rewarded by the brilliant dialogue built with subtle puns. The author creates a chamber environment in a luxurious atmosphere, where religion and metaphysics present the reader with a choice.
The presentation of this impressive work will take place during FRANCOFEST, on September 9, at 4 p.m. in Lovers' Park.
