Amidst the chaos of civil and global conflicts, teetering on the edge of devastation, this country not only endured but also emerged as an independent and resilient nation. While others faltered, the Finns quietly and steadfastly navigated through adversity, overcoming every challenge they faced. In collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the esteemed brand "Finni," Newmag proudly introduces the Armenian translation of Professor Henrik Meinander's renowned work.

How did the Finns carve out their own sovereign state within another, against seemingly insurmountable odds? Henrik Meinander expertly recounts the intricate history of Finland in a lucid and scholarly manner, unraveling the mysteries of its origins, the formation of its national identity, and its remarkable journey toward independence amidst the backdrop of global history.

The esteemed historian has authored 10 books covering a wide array of events and figures in Finnish history. A recipient of numerous awards, he holds the distinguished position of professor at the University of Helsinki and is a renowned member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Additionally, he previously served as the director of the Finnish Institute in Stockholm. Notably, his seminal work, "A History of Finland," has been translated into 18 languages.

The historian prioritizes presenting intricate scientific concepts in an accessible manner. His work serves as a roadmap exploring visionary intellectuals, forward-thinking individuals, and the evolution of a prosperous nation. Meinander offers unique insights into the phenomenon of national history, as elucidated in the preface to his book, "A History of Finland." In the Armenian translation, Henrik Meinander has crafted an updated preface and concluding chapter, drawing parallels between Armenia and Finland.

According to the tight schedule drawn up by Newmag, the historian will give interviews in various media, meet with students of the American University of Armenia and the Yerevan State University, visit the Genocide Museum, and cultural centers, present his book in "Zangak" bookstore, and finally on February 16, 7 pm the presentation of "A History of Finland" will take place at the Best Western Congress Hotel.
