Luca Caioli’s name may not be known to every reader, but in the world of sports literature, he is a true master of football biographies. He has chronicled the lives of some of the game’s greatest legends - Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappé, Neymar - whose Armenian editions have all been published by Newmag.
In June, Newmag presented Caioli’s latest work in Armenian: Mbappé, co-authored with French sports journalist Cyril Collot. “I hope you will enjoy reading about his incredible journey as much as we enjoyed writing it,” Caioli says.
Born in Milan in 1958, Luca Caioli began his career as a sports journalist, writing for some of Italy’s most respected newspapers - Il Manifesto, L’Unità, La Repubblica, and La Gazzetta dello Sport - where he built his reputation as a keen sports analyst. His professional growth continued at Euronews TV, where he served as editor-in-chief, further honing the skills that would shape his sports writing.
Caioli’s books are more than just accounts of goals and trophies, they capture the personal stories, challenges, and values behind the athletes. For Mbappé, he and Cyril Collot traveled to the footballer’s hometown of Bondy, and followed his journey through Monaco, Paris, and Madrid.
Speaking in a live interview with Newmag, Caioli described their subject as “a young man whose passion, determination, and talent have taken him to the very top of world football.”

To tell Mbappé’s story, the authors spoke with his coaches, family members, teammates, friends, teachers, and journalists. The result is not just a biography of a sports star, but a book about perseverance, ambition, and the values that drive success.
