Newmag 2023: 12 moments of the year (video)

JANUARY:

Newmag started the year with a new memoir and a new series. The Armenian Apostolic Church and the publishing house started with the memorandum of the "Hun" series. Hun is an exclusive series created under the guarantee of the Publishing Board of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the blessing of Catholicos Garegin II. For the first time, a private publishing house publishes Christian popular literature together with the Mother See. The first book in the "Hun" series was "Mere Christianity" by Clive Staples Lewis, perhaps the most read after the Bible.

FEBRUARY

The second winter festival was marked with 5 new books and 5 new memoirs. Newmag. Winter Fest 2023 was also the premiere of the Aznavourian 5th video. "How sad Venice can be", Andre.

MARCH:

The famous Argentinian-Armenian writer and journalist Magda Takhtachyan arrived in Armenia at the invitation of Newmag. We published the writer's novel "Rojava". The author of 4 famous bestsellers has been translated into her native language for the first time. The writer went on a book tour in her homeland for almost two months and met with her readers.

APRIL

The publishing house celebrated five years of its foundation. The one-month literary holiday events began in the Zangak bookstore. For a month, the publishing house organized meetings with authors, master classes and sincere conversations. In April, 4 new books were published at once: the long-awaited last part of Narine Abgrayan's “Manyunya”, the 3rd volume of Elena Ferrante's "My Brilliant Friend" tetralogy, the global megahit detective "One of us is lying" and Susanna Harutyunyan's new, unexpected novel, "The Last Horse of Andranik”.

MAY

Newmag presented the long-awaited first three children's books and the "Yeraz" series in May. "Yeraz Projects" and Newmag publishing house publish books by Armenian and foreign authors with special fonts, sizes and illustrations designed for every age group.

JUNE

For almost 12 hours, from noon to late evening, Newmag held the 3rd Summer Festival. 5 new books: unexpected masterpieces and global bestsellers, training, a special program for children, a concert, a big book fair and raffles. All this in one day, in one park and in six different locations.

JULY

The publishing house opened its first corner in one of Cascade's cafes, in Sintra, starting a new book culture. A whole corner in the cafe is filled with our books. One book and one delicious coffee with an offer from the cafe.

AUGUST

Newmag and "Art Bridge" started a series of literary discussions at the end of the summer with the memorandum signed in the winter. The first meeting was about the re-publishing of the "Inqnagir" literary magazine. The authors of Newmag and the best specialists in the field discussed "Literature in extraordinary times", and thought "Is it possible to save the architectural face of Yerevan?" In the same month, the "Yeraz" series presented three more new books. At the "Yeraz School" holiday event, the website, yeraz.newmag.am, was also launched.

SEPTEMBER

It was with the French breath of Newmag. The publishing house started the autumn with a new festival, the Francofest of French books. Newmag presented only French content at the festival: four French bestsellers: "Blue Beard" by Amélie Nothomb, "The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair” by Joël Dicker, "My Armenian Friend" by Andrei Makine and “Happy People Read and Drink Coffee” by Agnès Martin-Lugand.

OCTOBER

On the death anniversary of Charles Aznavour, Newmag presented the Armenian version of the song "Children of the War”. The premiere of the exciting song of the legendary Armenian coincided with the forced displacement of the people of Artsakh. Newmag dedicated the song to the children of Artsakh. In the video, there are children from Artsakh who were under siege for nine months and then displaced.

NOVEMBER

Newmag opened its second corner with the third book of the Smart series. "Work Rules" was first presented at Unicorn Community café. At 83 Koghbatsi Street, the second corner of NewMag books is already operating.

DECEMBER

Newmag is headquartered in a new address and a new book-filled office in 2023. The publishing house also announced the launch of a new large project, the Newmag Academy.
