The first and largest Francophone literature festival will represent the undiscovered French literature to the Armenian reader. It will also introduce the most influential authors of postmodernism to them. The “Boghossian Foundation” also joined this excl

From the beginning, the garden was not for “Lovers”. The name of the park, created in the 18th century, was "Kozern Gardens". For example, in 1949, on the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, the garden was named “Pushkin's Garden”. Then it became “Friendship”, and today “Yerevan Lovers' Park”, because the “Demirchyan” street, next to the park, was once called the “Lovers' Street”.

In 2007, the park was reconstructed as a Japanese garden and became part of the “Boghossian Gardens”. The renovation and operation are carried out by the “Boghossian Foundation” initiated by Albert Boghossian. The first and only Japanese garden in Armenia has about 500 visitors a day.

This cozy and green corner of Yerevan often hosts cultural and educational events. According to Lena Matevosyan, Director of the coordination office of Lovers’ Park, this is how they try to make the visitors' monotonous days memorable and impressive. “Events are sometimes specially designed for children, and sometimes there are jazz and classical concerts for adults. All events take place in a crowded and pleasant environment, adding to the pages of the park's history”.

On September 9, the park will host the first French-language literature festival in Armenia, FRANCOFEST. According to Lena Matevosyan, the park's staff is also waiting for it. “The festival is already highly anticipated by all of us, it stands out for its message and content. In general, there is a lack of this kind of event organized for book lovers in our society, and this event is an opportunity to encourage and support people to read more and become familiar with modern, particularly French-language literature”.

THE PROGRAM OF FRANCOFEST

“Boghossian Foundation” and Newmag are waiting for everyone who wants to participate. The festival will start at 11 a.m. and continue until 10 p.m., bringing together young people, representatives of business, the public sector, readers, and lovers of European culture and literature. The welcoming doors of Lovers’ Park are open to everyone.
