He became one of the most recognizable figures in world sports. Eight Grand Slam titles. Olympic gold. Newmag & Friends presents one of the most honest sports autobiographies ever written: Andre Agassi’s “Open.”

A sincere confession from the tennis legend to Armenian readers, “Open” reveals the hidden price of success built on discipline, pressure, and years of fighting against a path chosen by others.

Newmag and ROQ Capital present the world-famous autobiography of legendary American-Armenian tennis player Andre Agassi. Considered a modern classic among sports memoirs, “Open” is not only a story about victories, records, and championships, but also about identity, personal struggles, and the search for freedom.

Andre Agassi is one of the brightest figures in tennis history. During his twenty-year career, he became the world’s number one player, won an Olympic gold medal, and claimed eight Grand Slam titles. Yet “Open” is not simply a book about his sporting achievements.

In the memoir, Agassi speaks openly about his childhood, shaped by strict discipline and his father’s uncompromising expectations. From an early age, tennis was not a passion he freely chose, but a responsibility imposed on him

Agassi was one of the first global athletes to openly discuss the emotional and psychological challenges behind professional success. He writes candidly about pressure, personal crises, the gap between public image and true identity, and the moments that forced him to rethink his life and career.

After its publication, “Open” became an international bestseller and received widespread critical acclaim. The New York Times praised it as a deeply human and unforgettable memoir, while The Wall Street Journal highlighted its honesty and literary strength.

The Armenian translation of the book “Open” is by Lusine Koshetsyan. The general partner of the memoir is ROQ Capital.

The presentation will take place during Newmag Summer Fest 2026, on the Main Stage at 7:30 PM, moderated by Anna Salome. A tennis activity pavilion will also be open at Yeraz Park.
