On the same day 50 years after the historic victory, the Newmag publishing house presents “Ararat 73: The Golden Age of the Armenian Football” written by Suren Baghdasaryan. According to editor Gnel Nalbandian, this memoir is a story about victory. “How the team achieves victory, the legend is created and how the people celebrate that victory. This is a book that will interest everyone, football fans, and any Armenian. This book must be studied in professional educational institutions because this victory is for everyone. It is important for all of us to know the history because it is also about the Soviet empire and its people. This story belongs to the entire Soviet family, the victory belongs to us”.
Davit Martirosyan, the grandson of Suren Baghdasaryan, did a great job on the “Ararat-73” book. He was the link between the publishing house and the author, carefully selected the photos, and planned the production of the book. “For 27 years I was hearing from my grandfather about the victories, the team, the internal kitchen, the coaches' advice, the team that became a family, and then I realized that this story should become a book. We wanted to publish it on the 40th anniversary, but it didn't work out. I am glad that the half-century jubilee was successful. The book presents the history from the inside, accurate information is collected, and there are also stories about the fates of the football players, which make the biography of the team more valuable”.
The book has a special message, the main interpretation of which is on the cover itself: this is the team of Armenian revival. Now more than ever, revival and victories are important for us, emphasizes Suren Baghdasaryan. “Victory does not happen by chance, cup winning does not happen by chance. Since 1971, our team has been ready for the championship awards. It became a silver medalist that year. Nikita Simonyan contributed to the formation of the team. He was also a good football player. The team adored him, the coach's words were law. Of course, he was not strict, but everyone knew that he was a supporter of conscious discipline. That victory was a knee-jerk reaction to the unity of our country and people, we were united and unified. This was not just a football victory, but a nationwide victory. If we are always united and full of fists, we will achieve such victories again”.
