Political scientist and publicist Tigran Hayrapetyan's 4th volume, "A Thousand Years of Desert" was presented by Newmag during the Morning Show on Armenia TV. The book was presented by Arsen Gasparyan, Doctor of Political Sciences, President of Exoriente

Nazeni Gharibyan explained why they chose the title "A Thousand Years of Desert" with Newmag. It is the title of one of Tigran's articles in which he wrote about the last millennium of Armenian history, from the collapse of the Bagratuni kingdom, until today. He calls that period a seeking century of the Armenian people. A time when the Armenians should have created an idea, but those thousand years were a desert. Tigran hoped that this idea would be born, and we would be able to protect our lands, be strong, and even bring back the old lands. His vision was "Sea to Sea" Armenia. According to Tigran, that desert was the intellectual, Christian, church, and political orientation."

Analyzing Hayrapetyan's essays, Nazeni Gharibyan believes that the most important and valuable result of political thought was that he proposed to change the desert situation. According to Hayrapetyan, we are a regional country, we must cooperate with the region. "It is difficult to believe in pre-emptions, Tigran regretfully said that our political environment is waiting for the event to happen, and then sit down and analyze it. But the most important political tools for every strong country are the institutions of political forecasts and prevention."

The volume "A Thousand Years of Desert" directly contradicts the previous book. There were many articles about Artsakh and Armenia, which is why the third volume included articles about the construction, rise, and victory of statehood. Nazeni Gharibyan says that in this volume there are more complaints about statehood, and what should have been done, but was not done. "The most frightening feeling is when you read, for example, the articles of 1991-92 and see what was predicted in those years and how they came true 90 percent."

The book "A Thousand Years of the Desert" was published with the support of Tigran Hayrapetyan's orientalist friends. Arsen Gasparyan, the president of the Exoriente Union of Armenian Orientalists and lecturer at the American University, remembers that they showed a blond boy in front of the faculty, who had exceptional encyclopedic knowledge but could not be admitted for two years. "Tigran died at the age of 35, but during those years he left such a great legacy."

Arsen Gasparyan advises the readers to pay attention to the fact that Tigran Hayrapetyan was a linguist, public speaker, and political scientist, and all of that can be seen in his articles. "I am sure that one day his articles will be studied by sociologists as well because he has many interesting ideas for them. There will come a time when religious scholars also study Tigran's articles. These are articles written with a fascinating temperament. Without exaggerating, what Voltaire, Kant, Aristotle, or Franklin did, Tigran Hayrepetyan did for us in political philosophy."

Zarmine Zeytuntsyan, a student of Tigran Hayrapetyan, and a member of the board of the Exoriente Union of Armenian Orientalists, says that reading Tigran's articles now, she regrets that she was young and did not interact with Tigran so deeply, did not ask many questions. "I read the articles today, I regret to say that what I read, I read about today."

The book presentation will take place on December 15, at Common Ground Books & Spirits bookstore-cafe. Entrance is free.
