On May 18, there will be a presentation of four new books at once: "Skandar and the Unicorn Thief" by Annabel Steadman, "Mru Mru and Berry" by Kaisa Happonen and Anne Vasko, "The Shadow World" by Per Gustavsson, and Astghik Nadiryan's "Do Nanik, My Baby" for parents.

Gohar Manukyan, head of the "Yeraz" series, said that after six years in the literary market, the Newmag Publishing House decided to publish children's books as well. The series was also called "Yeraz" because the partner is "Yeraz Projects". Books are selected according to interest, taking into account global trends. "Scandinavian children's books are very trendy now, that's why we have chosen from those books as well."

 

The books of the "Yeraz" series are carefully selected with the participation of psychologists and education specialists. "In our books, you will see all the problems, fears, and anxieties that children have, for example, how to overcome the fear of shadows. We publish few children's books because they go under the magnifying glass, we consult with psychologists and specialists."

The main book to be presented on May 18 is "Skandar and the Unicorn Thief" by Annabel Steadman. It has been translated in 46 countries and is considered a competitor of books about Harry Potter. Skandar is a 13-year-old boy who finds himself on a magical island to save unicorns. The third volume of the book has already been published, and it has also become an absolute bestseller. Our series will also publish all volumes. The unicorn is also the symbol of our series.

On May 18, at 5 pm: the presentation of the book will take place in Eraz Park. The head of the series assured that the day will be sunny. "The event will take place in Eraz Park, where there will be many interesting surprises. The students of "Arpi and Mihran Studio" will sing, and there will be a raffle, surprises, and gifts."

One of the four new books is about parenting. The "Yeraz" series will present the book "Do Nanik, My Baby" by Astghik Nadiryan, the first certified sleep specialist in Armenia. The author of the book told how she decided to become a sleep specialist. "I passed the courses of the best specialists. They were among the first to study sleep disorders."

The book was written based on more than two dozen different books, each of which presents a model of parenting. "I mainly chose the attachment theory model. However, after reading my book, parents can choose the model that suits them, as I provide options to facilitate their child's sleep. I simply wrote the book so that all parents could understand it. It's important to understand that when a woman has just given birth, and has a child, her life has changed; she is tired, wants to rest, and drinks coffee. This book is for them."

Moms are more emotional and dads are mostly rational. The author tried to make mothers more self-confident, and not feel guilty for going to work and spending less time with their children. "There is a special diary in the book, where parents can read the contents of the book more briefly, and make notes. This guide is just that. My main advice is to get to know the child. On May 18, I will tell you how to understand that normal sleep is very relative. There is no need to fall into extremes. Do not compare with the children of neighbors, choose the characteristics of your own family and child."

The books "The Shadow World" and "Mru Mru and Berry" are presented by the "Yeraz series" together with the "Paradigma" Educational Foundation. Hasmik Kyureghyan, executive director of the foundation explained why these books were chosen. "Research has shown that about forty percent of children in Armenia have functional illiteracy. If they do not work with the child in early childhood, problems arise later. You have to work with children from the age of zero. Not to teach letters, but to know how to speak, and what questions to ask.

These books are not just fairy tales, all things considered: children's receptiveness, font size, colors, images, everything was chosen by specialists. Along with these books, we present a special guide for parents to know how to work with their children. We have chosen several categories: social-emotional, mathematics-scientific, and linguistic. We have planned questions for each category so that the parent understands how to discuss the book and what questions to ask after reading the book. For example, the author wrote the series of books "Mru Mru and Berry" in such a way that the ending is always ambiguous so that the parent can work with the child, discuss, and imagine.

 

On May 18, new books will be presented by the "Yeraz" series and "Yeraz Projects". Mary Melik-Sargsyan, head of marketing and public relations of "Yeraz Projects" told about the cooperation.
