Philippe Marczewski
Philippe Marczewski (b. 1974) is a Belgian writer whose path to literature led through the worlds of science and books. He spent six years conducting research in cognitive neuropsychology before leaving his scientific career to work as a bookseller in Liège for sixteen years. Themes of memory, oblivion, space, and the human inner world hold a special place in Marczewski’s prose. At the heart of his writing—by his own account—lies the sentence and its rhythm. In 2021, his novel *Un corps tropical* (Tropical Body) won the prestigious Victor Rossel Prize, and in 2025, his novel *Quand Cécile* (When Cécile) received a special mention from the jury of the European Union Prize for Literature.
