Newmag presented Giovanni Dozzini's novel "Here I Should Stay" on Armenia TV. The book was translated by Lusine Shukuryan. She was not present at the presentation, because she lives in Italy, like the author of the book. The Armenian edition was presented

The book "Here I Should Stay" is about the middle-aged painter Bregolise. It is written in the first person and presents the thoughts of the painter for sixteen days. Anna Bakhshyan, the editor of the Armenian translation, assured that Giovanni Dozzini will continue the rich traditions of Italian literature, which were formed by Elena Ferrante, Umberto Eco.

"The main character's assistant is an immigrant, the author touches on the problem of immigrants quite delicately. The book is also about the crisis of a middle-aged man. The novel is written using the stream-of-consciousness method. James Joyce also wrote with that method. The migration wave is huge in Europe. There are many wars, people leave their country in search of a better life. Naturally, it is very difficult for them to integrate into society. The son of the hero's friend was in jail, now he sells drugs and is in gangs. His problems arise and this also affects the life of the Italian painter, because they cannot work as usual. The hero is a representative of a disappointed generation, he is intolerant in many issues due to an unorganized life".

For Mayis Nikoghosyan, the supervising editor of the book, the publication of the Armenian translation is very important. Dozzini is being translated into Armenian for the first time.

"One of the main advantages of Newmag is that the publishing house not only translates books but makes them Armenian. This book is also translated that way. It has very correct punctuation, which is not well taught in our universities today. And depending on the punctuation, the meaning and nuances of the text change a lot. The novel is about a modern man living in Europe. It is one of the best books published in recent years. It will be interesting for the Armenian reader also because we live in a highly politicized society. It is painful, but everyone, from housekeepers to academics, is engaged in politics today, so the book will show many of them that it is not their job, they should return to their normal life. But the artistic value of this novel is very important to me".

The author of the book is a journalist and through his fictional story, he also touches on an important universal problem, immigrants. YSU Journalism Faculty lecturer Tatev Harutyunyan touched upon the themes of the novel.

"I teach "Migration and Journalism". The course deals with migration. This topic applies to everyone. The problem is presented with the story of an ordinary person in the book. Migration is the movement of people, it is not a negative phenomenon, but when we say immigration, it is already negative, sometimes these movements are forced by war, religion, or other problems. We pay great attention to these phenomena, who are the refugees, and the asylum seekers, and what are the solutions in the international legal field. Journalists should be able to communicate with these people and cover their problems. There are also many ethical challenges. We also do a lot of research with students. Now we study a lot the problems of the people of Artsakh, we show the problems of forcibly displaced people".

The book is available in bookstores and on newmag.am website.
