Closing and Award Ceremony of the “Sprout in Armenian – 2025” Competition at Newmag Winterfest
01/23/2026
The official closing and award ceremony of the annual “Sprout in Armenian – 2025” creative competition, organized by the “Amrots” National Development Foundation, will take place on February 7 as part of Newmag Winterfest, in partnership with Newmag Publishing House.
The competition brings together Armenian youth aged 14 to 17 from Armenia and the Diaspora, creating a pan-Armenian platform where language becomes the primary tool for self-expression. This year’s theme, “A Country in My Name,” encouraged participants to share their thoughts on homeland, identity, and belonging, both in Armenian and in other languages.

In 2025, the competition received around 200 submissions in Eastern Armenian, Western Armenian, various Armenian dialects, as well as in Russian, English, and Spanish. Works were submitted in three main categories: literary works, visual arts, and a foreign-language (incentive) category.

Three winners were selected in each main category, with the authors receiving monetary and incentive prizes. Winners in the foreign-language category will be awarded educational programs in Armenian studies, along with additional incentives from the jury.
For the first time, this year the competition will also feature “Tsil Ta” magazine, which will showcase the best and most encouraged works from the event.

Since its launch in 2022, the “Sprout in Armenian” competition, initiated by the Amrots Foundation with support from leading telecommunications operator Viva and partner organizations, has been a key platform for fostering creativity and linguistic pride among Armenian youth. This year, the event is held in partnership with Newmag Publishing House as part of the Winterfest program.
Through initiatives like this, Tsil continues to build a pan-Armenian youth creative community, promoting expression in Armenian, nurturing creativity, and ensuring the language remains a living, vibrant presence among young people.
