Sum up the summer holidays with a Book Festival: "BACK TO SCHOOL" is coming (Trailer)
08/15/2024
On August 24 at 5 pm, newmag and "Yeraz Projects" from the "Somnium" group of companies will jointly present the "BACK TO SCHOOL" children's festival.
For the second time, on the eve of the school year,
reading-loving children can enjoy a bookish summer day in Yeraz Park and be
among the first to discover new publications. The festival will feature the
presentation of three new books and one song from the "Yeraz" series.
In addition to literary events, there will be a musical program with classical
and pop performances. The festival is open to all children who love reading.
A year ago, newmag introduced a new children's series. At the
beginning and end of the school year, the publishing house brings contemporary
and classic literary works to the market for children and parents. These books
are written in clear language, with colorful illustrations and a special font,
and are intended for specific age groups.
The "Yeraz" series now includes 10 books. On August
24, at "BACK TO SCHOOL", book lovers will have the opportunity to attend the
presentation of three new books. One of these is the second book in Jeff
Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, titled Diary of a Wimpy Kid:
Rodrick Rules.
"Rodrick Rules" describes how Greg
tries to navigate the challenges of high school, impress girls, and avoid
participating in school performances. However, Greg's most important task is to
protect his secret.
Another book is based on the Soviet and post-Soviet era film Electronic
Adventures. This story follows a brilliant scientist who creates a humanoid
robot named Electronic. Electronic escapes from his creator and meets his
"twin," a Moscow schoolboy named Sergey Siroezhkin. Electronic
becomes Sergey’s friend and assistant, attends school in his place, and
completes assignments. When the mafia learns about Electronic, they plan to
kidnap him, leading to many funny and dangerous situations.
Yevgeny Veltistov, a Soviet writer and screenwriter who
graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University, first
published his science fiction book Adventures of the Electronic in 1964.
The book was adapted into a three-part film in 1979, with the script written by
Veltistov. In 1982, he received the USSR State Prize for his work.
"Yeraz" has also Armenianized the famous song from the film, "The Winged Swing," which will be premiered at the "BACK TO SCHOOL" festival. Students from "Mihran, Arpi Studio" will perform the song.
The third new book is The Last Outpost by Cecilia Heikkilä,
a Swedish graphic designer who often references animals and nature in her
children's picture books. This captivating book explores themes of longing for
a place one has never been, finding a home in the woods, and the bond between a
grandfather and a grandson.
On August 24, the festival will feature various events across
three different zones in the "Yeraz" park. Guests will be welcomed by
the park's favorite characters and escorted to the Green Zone, where the
festival’s main partner, "Dobry"
juices, will host a welcoming booth. In addition to educational and fun games,
book lovers can enjoy a special juice treat.
Special guests of the festival will include students from the
"Orran" charity organization, who will also perform musical acts. The
publishing house has prepared a surprise for them.
All books in the "Yeraz" series will be available for
purchase at the festival with discounts of up to 40%. The co-organizer of the
"BACK TO SCHOOL" children's festival is "Yeraz Projects,"
the main sponsor is VTB Armenia Bank, and the main partner is "Dobry" juices.
