04/28/2026
A timeless story of childhood, values, and growing up. Within the Yeraz book series, Newmag and Yeraz Projects present Edmondo De Amicis’s world classic “Heart” - now available for the first time in a complete Armenian translation, carefully edited and newly presented for modern readers. The book is intended for ages 12+.
An entire school year unfolds, from the first days of autumn to the long-awaited summer holidays. Through his diary, young Enrico records the seemingly ordinary yet deeply meaningful moments of everyday life: friendships and quarrels, lessons and laughter, the words of teachers, and the guidance of his parents. Step by step, he learns not only how to read and write, but how to live.
Friendship. Family. Homeland. Love. Loss. Courage. Small victories.
“Heart” reminds us that life’s most important lessons are rarely found in textbooks, they are discovered in school corridors, in conversations with friends, and in the quiet wisdom of those who guide us.
There are books born in a specific time that go on to belong to all times. There are stories rooted in one culture that speak to everyone. “Heart” is one of those rare works.
Edmondo De Amicis, Italian writer, journalist, and poet, drew from his early military education and life experience to develop a deep understanding of society, education, and human values. Published in 1886, “Heart” was quickly translated into more than 25 languages and became a cornerstone of children’s literature worldwide, widely included in school curricula.
Until now, Armenian readers knew “Heart” through partial or outdated translations. This new edition presents the novel in full, offering a fresh and complete reading experience.
Newmag and Yeraz Projects will present “Heart” at the “Yeraz” children’s festival on May 3, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Yeraz Park. Admission is free, and the book will be available at a special discount.

Description
An academic year, which seems infinitely long, but ends in an instant, with summer vacation. What would happen if every student kept a school diary and wrote down their ordinary, sometimes extraordinary stories every day? The novel “The Heart” is just such a diary story. Schoolboy Enrico learns to read and write, and in his diary he tells about the most important values of life: friendship, family, homeland, love, losses and small victories. Amicis reminds us that life’s lessons are often not in textbooks, but in school corridors, on the road with friends, in the words of teachers and parents.
The “Dream” series presents a world classic novel, for the first time in a complete Armenian translation and supplemented edition.
The book is intended for readers 12+.
