Newmag publishing house will hold a FRANKOFEST in Lovers’ Park on Saturday, September 9, 2023, starting from 11 a.m. It will be the first festival of French books and francophone content in Armenia. The festival will continue for 10 hours, bringing together young people, representatives of the business sector, readers, and admirers of European culture and literature.
In addition to four new books, the publishing house has compiled a multi-genre and multi-content program. Due to the tight schedule, the day filled with French elegance will pass in one breath. Literary meetings and conversations will periodically pause to play French music. Besides, young and famous artists will perform at the festival.
CHILDREN'S VOICE OF FRANKOFEST. The opening ceremony of the first French-language literature festival in Armenia is entrusted to the “Arevik” ensemble.
1 p.m. The soulful sounds of the saxophone will spread in Lovers' Park. The homeland of the instrument is France, and the name was inherited from the creator. Saxophonist Dav Hovhannisyan will perform jazz at the festival.
12:40 a.m. to 1 p.m. is storytelling time. Specialists of Alliance Française d'Arménie will read French fairy tales for children. After two hours, an open French lesson for beginners will be held, and adults and children will have interesting entertainment in the Lovers’ Park.
At 4:40 p.m., a theatrical reading of “Blue Beard” by Belgian baroness Amélie Nothomb. Honorary artist of Armenia Davit Hakobyan and actor, and anchor Arevik Gevorgyan will read it for kids and adults. The presentation of this book will take place at the festival.
Immediately after, at 5 p.m., Gorgeouz Beats will perform.
The next musical surprise is the premiere of the song and video clip. Honorary Artist of Armenia Shushan Petrosyan will perform Charles Aznavour's famous song “Children of this War” in Armenian. Newmag continues presentations of Aznavour’s songs in Armenian. And this time the publishing house dedicates it to 30,000 children under siege in Artsakh for about 9 months.
And the gala concert will be dedicated to the 120,000 residents of besieged Artsakh. Lyoka, born in Artsakh, will perform at the event.
