According to Margarit Sargsyan, the editor of “The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair”, this novel with its multi-layered nature brings a different culture to detective literature. The editor finds it difficult to call the case fully a detective story because it doesn't focus on either murder, police, or murder. The novel is among the most sold translations in the American market. It was also screened as a 10-part TV series. It is considered Switzerland's answer to the Scandinavian thriller “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. Dicker's writing style has been compared to that of Vladimir Nabokov and Philip Roth.
