The TV presentation of the detective novel “The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair” by the youngest and most famous Swiss writer Joël Dicker, published by Newmag, took place on the "Morning Show" of Armenia TV. The book was presented by Margarit Sargsya

According to Margarit Sargsyan, the editor of “The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair”, this novel with its multi-layered nature brings a different culture to detective literature. The editor finds it difficult to call the case fully a detective story because it doesn't focus on either murder, police, or murder. According to her, the main target here is not uncovering the murder, there are other topics as well.

“It is an intellectual detective because different layers are revealed, starting with writing a book, transferring skills, and ending with complex human relationships. The problem here is not only the uncovering of the murder, here are the clashes of mindsets of different layers of society and the relationships of different people. You can think, live, and feel with the hero of the book. The work is “fast-paced”, that is, you don't need to look at the thickness, it's a book that can be read in one breath, you don't get bored while reading it, you don't want to leave it or close it for long hours”.

Samvel Gasparyan, the translator of the book, was surprised by Dicker because he did not just write a detective story, there is an aesthetic touch in the book, and wonderful scenes of nature are described. “My favorite genre is the detective, American, French and Japanese detectives are familiar, but this is completely different. It's like “Матрешка”, it seems to be over, now the murderer will be found out, but it turns out that a new novel is starting, the 2nd one, even it seems to be over, another new novel is starting. That's why it's thick. He is a very interesting author, and besides that, you are absorbed not only in reading but also in crowning. I couldn't stop. Newmag has a very good selection of books”.

The main partner of the book is "Zangak" bookstore. According to Astghik Ohanyan, head of the library's cultural affairs and literary critic, one of the main goals of the cooperation between “Zangak” and Newmag is to bring to the reader those books in Armenian that are of high quality, are in demand and occupy the first positions in the world. “Our goal is to spread Armenian literature. As for Dicker's book, it is very multi-layered and has several important points. One of them is that the author emphasizes love. The other is the aspiration to write. Throughout, we see how to write a novel, how to make literature, how to create”.

Published in 2012, Dicker's novel “The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair" immediately became a bestseller and was translated into 32 languages. The novel is among the most sold translations in the American market. It was also screened as a 10-part TV series. It is considered Switzerland's answer to the Scandinavian thriller “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. Dicker's writing style has been compared to that of Vladimir Nabokov and Philip Roth.
