The memory of Manouchian and the story of his life have become historical symbols in Armenia and France, leading to streets and schools being named after him.

The council of the Île-de-France region unanimously decided to name the central high school in the city of Châtenay-Malabry, near Paris, after Missak and Meline Manouchian. This is the first school in France to bear the name of the Armenian hero of the Resistance Movement.

A solemn naming ceremony took place during which the students of the school recited the poems of Missak Manouchian.

The principal of the school, along with the history and philosophy teachers, welcomed attendees by presenting the heroic figures of Manouchian and his comrades. This special decision by the French president pays tribute to national heroes.

At the event, speeches were made by Carl Segaud, a member of the Île-de-France council and the mayor of Châtenay-Malabry; Georges Siffredi, president of the Hauts-de-Seine department; Benoit Trevisan, the prefect of the department; Hasmik Tolmajian, the Armenian ambassador to France; and various members of the public from Hauts-de-Seine, including the academic director of the education service.

The vice president of the French Senate, members of the National Assembly and the Senate, representatives of regional, departmental, and city authorities, as well as members of the French-Armenian community attended the event. In her speech, ambassador Hasmik Tolmajyan emphasized that due to his exceptional struggle and unforgettable feats for the liberation of France, as well as his boundless devotion to universal values, Missak Manouchian has become a vital symbol of Armenian-French friendship, inspiring young French people with his heroic and tireless efforts.

Recently, Newmag published the memoirs of Missak Manouchian's wife and friend, Meline, which include deeply personal testimonies. Meline's memoirs about Missak were first published 50 years ago in a book titled "Manouchian." In the newly republished edition by Newmag, new documents, facts, and discoveries about the Armenian national hero of France have been included.

"Missak Manouchian: Through the Eyes of an Eyewitness" details how Missak Manouchian became one of the main figures in the resistance movement. This historical, investigative, and journalistic memoir will recount the lives of Missak and Meline during the period they lived in.
