Frédéric Encel is a French writer and expert in the field of geopolitics. He graduated from the Center for Geopolitical Analysis and Research at the University of Paris. He has been teaching international relations and political science for three decades. Now he is at the Paris Business School. In 2022, the book "Paths of Power" was published, for which the French Ministry of Defense awarded him the main prize for a book dedicated to geopolitics.

In "Paths of Power" he emphasizes two factors: state and geography. The two are directly related to Armenia. The loss of the state is the endpoint. And geography makes it possible not to reach that end, or not to use that decisive advantage and lose everything.

Drawing, where necessary, on historical overviews that are not so much lessons as instructive examples, Frédéric Encel consistently presents a detailed picture of the state of the world today, identifying trends in developments.

Why do states seek power and why do they use it? The short answer is to be or have more, always more. And, in the end, what is power? Frédéric Encel paraphrases Pierre Reverdy, who stated that "there is no love, there are only proofs of love." According to Encel, there is no force, only evidence of force.

Zangezur, located in the south of Armenia, which the Turks are trying to turn into a corridor, is targeted. One of the very rare geopolitical assets of Armenia is Meghri, the narrow corridor under the control of this city. From television analyses to prize-winning books, the Meghri problem runs like a red thread in Encel’s analysis.

"With poor and sparsely populated Zangezur, Armenia has a narrow land border with Iran over the Araks River. It is a link between the Islamic Republic and its privileged trade and political partner Russia. The heavy trucks passing through the Araks Bridge testify to the importance of this axis, which is also a land barrier between Turkey and Azerbaijan."

The importance of Artsakh is explained by the French geopolitical scientist not with emotional and humanitarian, but with a cold and value perception. Emphasizes that importance by drawing parallels with Israel.

Encel arrives in Armenia for two days only. On the first day of the visit, on January 24, the TV presentation of the book will take place on the live broadcast of the Morning Show of Armenia TV.

The "Paths of Power" was translated from French into Armenian by Lilit Bleyan.

The main partner of the book is Amundi Acba Asset Management. The company is organizing the Amundi-Acba economic forum for the 2nd time in Armenia, where they brought together ideological leaders, industry experts, and innovators to study and discuss the challenges of the time, trends, and the most important topics shaping the economic environment. The presentation of the book "Paths of Power" will take place at the conference. After the event, the political scientist will give an exclusive interview to Newmag.

On the last day of the visit, on January 25, at 10 am Frédéric Encel will meet the Armenian press and answer the questions of political scientists.
