Newmag Publishing House has officially presented “The Psychology of Money” by Morgan Housel on Armenia TV’s “Good Morning” program.

This bestselling book explores how people think about money - covering wealth, happiness, saving, greed, and decision-making. The Armenian edition was made possible with the support of its general partner, the investment company Apricot Capital.

The book’s translator, Anush Sedrakyan, shared that Housel’s insights had such an impact on her that she opened a new account specifically to save 10% of her income - one of the book’s core pieces of advice.

“Though I must admit,” she added with a smile, “I still struggle with one key rule: spend less, save more.”

Sedrakyan praised the author’s objectivity and his ability to highlight life’s financial truths:

“Not everything is as bad as it seems - nor as good as it seems.”

She also mentioned her initial concern about translating financial terminology:

“I was worried economists would find errors in the terminology. But the feedback has been very positive. Some sections were quite technical, so I consulted with economist friends who helped me translate those ideas into everyday Armenian.”

Lena Gyulkhasyan, Marketing Manager at Apricot Capital, explained why the company chose to support the book’s publication:

“We’re a licensed brokerage firm, connecting individuals who want to grow their money with the financial tools that make it possible. For our company - and our clients - to grow, Armenia needs a more developed culture of financial investing.”

According to Gyulkhasyan, this culture is still emerging in Armenia, and Apricot Capital sees it as their responsibility to support its growth:

“It’s essential that people take that first investment step with awareness and confidence. But there’s a lack of accessible, Armenian-language resources. That’s why we proposed this collaboration with Newmag. What’s special about this book is that it explains financial concepts through real-life stories.”

Both speakers encouraged viewers to read “The Psychology of Money”, describing it as an easy-to-understand and deeply valuable guide packed with practical lessons on money and human behavior.

Description

Doing well with money isn’t necessarily about what you know. It’s about how you behave. And behavior is hard to teach, even to really smart people.

Money―investing, personal finance, and business decisions―is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together.

In
The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the different ways people think about money and teaches you how to make better sense of one of life’s most important topics.
