Newmag Presents Two New Bestsellers on the “Good Morning” Program (Video)
07/17/2025
Newmag Publishing House introduced two international bestsellers during Armenia TV’s Good Morning program: Fredrik Backman’s Britt-Marie Was Here and the final installment in Karen McManus’ hit detective trilogy, One of Us Is Back.
Britt-Marie Was Here: A Story of Loneliness, Change, and Second Chances
The translator of the book, Ashkhen Bakhchinyan, believes the key to Backman’s success lies in how authentically he portrays human life and relationships.
“Especially today, when we stand between tradition and modernity, it’s difficult for the older generation to adapt, and surprising for the younger generation to understand how things once were. Backman’s characters reflect this journey, resisting at first, but ultimately finding peace.”
She adds that Backman’s works explore connections between people of different backgrounds and generations, encouraging empathy and reconciliation.
“In developed societies like Sweden, where Backman is from, loneliness is growing. People no longer need to communicate because technology fills that gap. But Backman shows us how important real human connection is.”
Britt-Marie Was Here is the third book released through Newmag’s partnership with Bookinist, the general partner of the novel. Bookinist director Khachik Vardanyan praised the emotional depth and moral values that run through Backman’s work.
“Backman’s books are warm and deeply human. They remind us that people everywhere, regardless of nationality or background, share common values. Britt-Marie, after decades of loyalty and self-sacrifice, finds herself again. Her story resonates with all of us.”
One of Us Is Back: The Thrilling Conclusion to Karen McManus’ Detective Trilogy
The final volume of Karen McManus’ bestselling trilogy, One of Us Is Back, was also featured. The Armenian edition is published with the support of Voskan Yerevantsi Printing House, the general partner of the book.
Margarit Sargsyan, editor of the Armenian edition and a teacher by profession, believes that the book's combination of teen drama, mystery, and suspense makes it incredibly compelling.
“The plot pulls you in. Just when you think it’s over, the story takes another turn. It’s engaging from start to finish.”
According to Astghik Atabekyan, translator of the trilogy, the book does more than just tell a thrilling story, it offers important insights into adolescence and how society perceives teenagers.
“The book makes us reflect on how closely we listen to young people. It’s a detective novel, yes, but also layered and thought-provoking, especially for teenagers and parents alike.”
She emphasized that understanding teenage behavior often begins by remembering our own youth:
“Teenage maximalism is natural. To understand it, we must recall what it felt like to be young ourselves. One of the book’s subtle messages is about the digital world, how chats, forums, and online spaces can be either empowering or dangerous, depending on how they’re managed.”
Newmag continues its mission of bringing global literature to Armenian readers, selecting books that resonate deeply across generations - with compelling characters, gripping plots, and powerful messages about life, identity, and connection.

Description
The New York Times bestselling author of A Man Called Ove, My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, and Anxious People captivates readers with this “warm and satisfying” (People) story “about a woman rediscovering herself after a personal crisis…fans of Backman will find another winner in these pages” (Publishers Weekly).
Britt-Marie can’t stand mess. A disorganized cutlery drawer ranks high on her list of unforgivable sins. She is not one to judge others—no matter how ill-mannered, unkempt, or morally suspect they might be. It’s just that sometimes people interpret her helpful suggestions as criticisms, which is certainly not her intention.
But hidden inside the socially awkward, fussy busybody is a woman who has more imagination, bigger dreams, and a warmer heart that anyone around her realizes.
When Britt-Marie walks out on her cheating husband and has to fend for herself in the miserable backwater town of Borg—of which the kindest thing one can say is that it has a road going through it—she finds work as the caretaker of a soon-to-be demolished recreation center. The fastidious Britt-Marie soon finds herself being drawn into the daily doings of her fellow citizens, an odd assortment of miscreants, drunkards, layabouts. Most alarming of all, she’s given the impossible task of leading the supremely untalented children’s soccer team to victory. In this small town of misfits, can Britt-Marie find a place where she truly belongs?
Funny and moving, sweet and inspiring, Britt-Marie Was Here celebrates the importance of community and connection in a world that can feel isolating.

It’s been almost two years since Simon died in detention, and the aftermath has been hard to shake. First the Bayview Four had to prove they weren’t killers. Then a new generation outwitted a vengeful copycat. Now the entire Bayview Crew is back home for the summer, and everyone is trying to move on.
Only, this is Bayview, and life is never that simple.
At first the mysterious billboard seems like a bad joke: Time for a new game, Bayview. But when a member of the Bayview Crew disappears, it’s clear this “game” is serious—and whoever’s in charge isn’t sharing the rules. Or maybe there aren’t any.
Bronwyn. Cooper. Addy. Nate. Maeve. Phoebe. Knox. Luis. Kris. Everyone’s a target. And now that someone unexpected has returned to Bayview, things could start getting deadly.
The thing is, Simon was right about secrets—they all come out eventually. And Bayview has a lot it’s still hiding.
