Description

When there is a tragedy in the family history that no one talks about, that silence is inherited by generations. 1978. Mara visits her mother, Irma, in a nursing home every day. At the end of her life, Irma begins to remember what she had tried to forget for years: the Soviet repressions of 1941, the Siberian exile, lost love, a divided family, and the guilt that always remained with her.

The novel intertwines the fates of three women: a grandmother, a mother, and a daughter. Historical tragedy continues to live inside people even decades later. “The Frozen Ocean” is a story of family memory and psychological wounds, where the most important struggle takes place not in the outside world, but inside a person.
